KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Strategy: Develop plant medium to long term Manufacturing Strategy and operational plansAlign plant Manufacturing Strategy to the overall business strategyProvide Strategic and Change Leadership to the Manufacturing Function and TeamsImplement new equipment/technology/processes in accordance with the Manufacturing Strategic PlanAchieve/exceed the annual Manufacturing Operational Plan in accordance to set targetsPlanning: Approve production plansProduction Management:
Establish best practices for plant utilisation and efficienciesEnsure the optimal and efficient use of resourcesManage plant projectsAnalyse and interpret production statistics/data to identify opportunities for improvementsOversee the activities of all contractors in the plantProject Management: Project Management of run in, run out of models/business projectsEnsuring plant readiness for implementation of new business projectContinous Improvements: Keep up to date with latest trends and developments in manufacturing technologiesBenchmark plant processes against best practicesMonitor competitors activities and identify opportunities for improvementsReporting: Analyse production reportsPresent Monthly, Quarterly and Annual performance, forecast and budget reportsCustomer Relations: Manage relationships with internal/external customersIdentify opportunities for improvements and make recommendationsSupplier Relations: Manage relationships with key suppliersIdentify opportunities for improvements with key suppliersFinancial Management Provide input into the budget processMonitor performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.
)Initiate requests for CAPEX/Disposal/TransfersParticipate in the Audit processAdhere to Financial Policies and ProceduresProtect company assets (working capital & fixed assets)Detect and prevent fraudPromote good Corporate GovernanceSHE: Conduct continuous Risk Assessments in the workplaceConduct Planned Task Observations in the workplaceIdentify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplaceAddress workplace hazards and risksApply safety, health and environment practices and legal requirements when working on machines and equipmentMaintain ISO1 4001/ISO 4500 accreditationQuality Management System Maintain IATF 16949 accreditationImprove employees awareness within the department of Quality Targets and ObjectivesAchieve PPM targetsPolicies and Procedures: Develop and update Manufacturing Policies, Procedures, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.Ensure the above are followedPeople Management: Ensure an enabling climate/cultureManage individual, team and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectivesManage labour stability and complement in line with budgetParticipate in the implementation and utilisation of equity related processesAchieve HDSA/Female targets for the DepartmentObtain approval for and recruit and select employees in the area of responsibilityPlan, organise and monitor work in own area of responsibilityCompile and update Performance Contracts and Individual Development Plans and facilitate individual career path planningDetermine the training needs of the DepartmentConduct Performance Reviews and manage sub-standard performanceCoach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levelsEnsure discipline is maintained in department (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.
)Resolve grievances and disputesREQUIREMENTS Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 School Leaving Certificate,Bachelors degree in commerce or science or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualificationExperiential: 5 years senior management experience in the Automotive industryAdditional Experiences: Understanding of an income statement,Balance sheet and financial ratios,Understanding of Lean manufacturing principals to ensure good management of the Engineering department,Good technical aptitude
