Job Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers maintaining lawns, gardens, interior landscape, and other landscaped areas.
Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs, and hedges.
Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units.
Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports.
Requisition supplies and materials.
Maintain financial and personnel records.
Train workers in job duties and company policies.
Perform mowing, edging, and shaping of shrubs and hedges.
Ensure quality control of gardens and grounds.
May perform the same duties as workers supervised.
Supervise health, safety and welfare for undertaking horticultural activities, including key documentation, site safety planning and ensuring communication is sufficient for work to be completed safely.
Supervise environmental and heritage protection on a horticultural site.
Establish, maintain and care for plants in different environments.
Plan, schedule, and implement the tasks of the field crew, as well as monitor the working conditions at the job site to ensure a safe working environment.
Manage and optimize soil condition relevant to the environment and planting requirements including the prevention of damage from traffic and works.
Develop and implement work plans to deliver projects and achieve desired quality of work.
Oversee horticultural site-based projects, organize resources, budgets and people, including environmental protection and keeping records.
Provide customer care to all stakeholders.
Supervise a team of staff or volunteers undertaking horticultural or landscaping maintenance activities.
Manage own performance and development.
Supervise, maintain and operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
Plan and implement the assessment, maintenance and repair of horticultural structures for safety, longevity, and aesthetics.
Plan, schedule and undertake maintenance for soft landscape elements.
Propagate plants and choose appropriate growing media.
Plan and install landscape features, ensure resources are present and that activities meet the specification.
Survey sites for landscaping.
Experience
Diploma in Landscaping and/or Horticulture.
Proven 2 - 5 years of experience as a landscaping supervisor or in a similar role.
Proven experience of managing a team.
Proven experience in Irrigation.
Skills Required
The ability to communicate well and diplomatically with clients and employees.
The ability to maintain and organize workspace and documentation.
The ability to pay close attention to color coordination, irrigation settings, and ideal curve of a path.
The ability to use commercial landscape maintenance equipment and hand tools.
The ability to identify weeds and other invasive plant species, and to recognize the presence of rodents.
