The Horse Racing Clerk is tasked with overseeing various administrative functions related to horse racing events. This role ensures the seamless execution of races by managing entries, maintaining accurate records, handling ante post betting details, and tracking race times.

Responsibilities
• Monitoring new customers
• Alerting traders of suspicious activities
• Update websites, race time and antepost
• Ensuring races close on schedule
• Adjusting times in the event of delays
• Researching and capturing of all results. Must ensure that no late bets were taken. Ensure that all odds results are correct.
• Results need to be in ASAP
• Auditing results, ensuring bets pay out correctly, must be able to do manual calculations and pay-outs
• Knowledge of tote rules, pools, horse racing rules
• Laying all types of bets over the phone and follow proper procedure when handling a call/assisting client.
• Refer client to the relevant department and follow up to ensure that the client is assisted.
• Make sure the results are submitted urgently.
• Ensure that all data is captured correctly, and all times and prices are correct.

Experience and Skills
• Matric or Equivalent
• Must be able to track, compare and adjust betting accordingly for all markets and venues and ensure that the client gets the best and right price at that time.
• Knowledge and ability to calculate the relevant percentages for each venue for wins and places.
• Must have an understanding of the mechanism of takebacks, and familiarity with and use of different sites and exchanges.
• Strong attention to detail and thoroughness. Highly logical and ability to think and calculate under pressure.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
• High degree of peoples skills with the ability to deal with VIP clients.
• High understanding of betting procedures and rules in order to assist cash branches with any customer related queries and must be able to follow up and resolve queries.
• Refer clients to the relevant department and follow up to ensure that the client is assisted.
