This position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data centre operations. This position must be experienced in people management, have a strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take Tracker Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience creating/devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in Server Support, VMware Support, SAN/Array Support, Backup support, and Linux support. This position involves hardware diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and manage their teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to strong knowledge in Data Centres and hardware repair, candidates will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.
Responsibilities:Management of the serversEnsure that servers have the appropriate anti-virus installed and up to dateEnsure that user access to the servers is managed and limitedEnsure that server data is backed-up as agreed with the appropriate business ownerEnsure that servers are monitored for performance and uptimeSet up and configure storage devicesLiaise with 3rd party vendors regarding storage device supportManagement of all disksEnsure that a capacity planning procedure is created and implementedEnsure that a process for obtaining and installing replacement parts is created and implementedEnsure that standby staff are trained to procure and install replacement partsEnsure that disks are monitored for performance and integrityEnsure SAN replication takes placeCreate and/or regularly update a backup and restore procedure and policyMaintain a record of system backup frequencies and backup timesPerform regular tests of the ability to restore backed up dataMonitor the backup hardware and software for correct operationManage the procurement of media as required to implement the backup procedure and policyEnsure backups conform to best practice retention cyclesEnsure all critical business systems are replicated at DREnsure all recovery systems are replicated at DR, including Infrastructure, DB replication, and SoftwareManage Infrastructure DR PlanManage DR Datacenter availability and stabilityManage DR connectivityManage DR capacityManagement of all application servers for all Tracker applicationsDefine and regularly review an SLA with affected business usersEnsure application servers are available in line with agreed SLAAll aspects within VMwareManage Tracker Data Centre (collocated OR owned)Ensure all infrastructure facilities are secureCreate and/or regularly update a capacity management process and procedureRegular review of capacity management monitoring resultsImplementation of appropriate actions to address findings of capacity management monitoring
