As part of the South Africa leadership team, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible under minimal direction for the on-going development, performance, and day-to-day management of all Supply Chain-related functions for South Africa including the execution of our manufacturing, logistics, engineering and quality functions.
The Supply Chain Manager will also interface with functional and divisional leaders within South Africa on a regular basis to ensure delivery of service to meet internal and external customer expectations. (S)he will have direct reports within the following Supply Chain functions: Customer Service, Project Engineering, Planning, Logistics & Manufacturing and Quality. These functions fall into operational responsibility areas – which makes the role end-to-end Supply Chain Lead.

What You Will Do

Work with Quality, R&D and Customers to proactively avoid and resolve quality and service issues, improving customer experience continuously
Establish Loss Analysis and Root Cause Analysis mindset via TPM methodology in line with Supply Chain strategy. Communicate and reinforce plans throughout the organization.
Develop vision for the Supply Chain function. Drives, coaches and empowers team to embrace vision and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement Supply Chain master plans aligned with the market business need, ensuring delivery of business metrics consistently
Work closely with the regional and country teams to develop Supply Chain strategies that prioritize initiatives to improve operational capabilities and effectiveness
Recruit, train, develop, retain, motivate and manage team in line with the organization's standards
Set up the operational budget for the Market consistent with the supply chain targets. Manage the financial performance against these targets with the aim of year-on-year improvement.
Work with regional teams to enable fast and flexible sourcing options aligned with the regional supply footprint. Reevaluate distribution and product sourcing networks and vendors to ensure best service and quality at a competitive price.
Build up and maintain clear communication and close co-operation with all relevant internal (e.g. Country/Regional Management, Sales, R&D, Finance, HR, etc) and external (e.g. unions, local authorities) interfaces.
Ensure area compliance with all company policies & procedures (e.g. Code of Conduct) and compliance with local legal requirements.
Facilitate Market S&OP program, implement strong planning and logistics infrastructure to maximize the availability at minimal cost
Represent supply chain locations in new product introductions / acquisition integrations.
Ensure that all locations are in compliance with all internal and external standards and legislation.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years Supply Chain Management experience, with multi-site management. At least 5 years in a related industry (specialty chemicals, food/beverage, health and hygiene products, pharmaceuticals, etc.)
Experience must include detailed knowledge of at least 3 additional supply chain functional areas, including manufacturing, planning, logistics operations, procurement, customer service, etc.
Hands on, technically proficient orientation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong budgeting experience and understanding of supply chain financial management
Strong coordination ability with a customer centered attitude
Advanced technical or business degree
ISO / regulated / GMP manufacturing experience
Desire to relocate for future positions.
Experience in Lean 6 Sigma, 5S
Minimum 2 years with direct responsibilities in manufacturing and acquainted with TPM
Minimum 2 years in an operations functional area, e.g.: Planning, Quality, Engineering, Compliance, Regulatory
Minimum 2 years capital project management experience
Extensive experience using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), ERP and other relevant computer software and systems effectively
Advance level of English
