Responsible for overseeing the inventory management process, defining departmental strategies for appropriate inventory levels, eliminating obsolete stock, and reducing aging material. Responsible for the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.Plan, manage, and evaluate logistics operations liaising with the COMPANY team, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies, and customers. Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies, and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance. Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements. Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs. Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers on a regular basis. Select carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteria.Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery. Review the impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes, or carriers, and provide feedback. Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities.Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports. Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreement. Interpret trends and analyze and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the company to aid customer service and cost improvements.Ensure IT systems in place are effective, maintained, and accurate. Ensure metrics, reports, and processes are in place. Develop methods and procedures for scheduling raw materials from suppliers to support manufacturing in achieving customer demand and minimizing cost impacts.Develop and maintain transportation systems on domestic and international freight that ensure business needs are met. Create, manage, and achieve the overall logistics and customer service department budgets. Ensure COMPANY is in compliance with laws and regulations regarding transportation. Resolve any legal issues pertaining to transportation/distribution.Ensure logistics department complies with ISO requirements. Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and tooling. Participate in personal development at all levels through talent acquisition, performance management, providing opportunities for high performers, education, communication, and expectation setting. Hold responsibility for the department budget. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process.Ensure all completed orders are dispatched on time. Ensure products are shipped appropriately to ensure the quality of goods during transportation. Take control of packaging and provide appropriate, cost-effective, high-quality solutions. Take responsibility for the accuracy of labeling to ensure correct parts/finished assemblies reach correct customers at the correct time.Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change processes. Ensure effective logistics implementation takes place relating to the changes.People ManagementManage, coach, and develop a high-performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value, and continuous improvements. Set departmental objectives/KPI's and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports. Report on the achievement of targets and identify any actions required.Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.Minimum Requirements7 – 10 years' experience as a Logistics Manager7 - 10 Years' experience in Import and Export ManagementDegree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Relevant Matric CertificateValid Driver's LicenseAdvanced Excel KnowledgeAdvanced ERP Knowledge (Infor LN – advantageous)
