ESAB South Africa, a division of Howden Middle East and Africa, is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to effectively manage the overall supply chain function, including regional warehouses and the operations thereof. Responsible for the development and implementation of supply chain processes of the organisation and act as the local, overall processes owner.What needs to be done?Develop and implement strategies to effectively manage the different aspects of the supply chain.Ensure orders are processed and met according to the contractual terms with minimum risk exposure.Explore opportunities to improve operational efficiency in the three main functions and the organisation.Effectively manage demand and inventory planning, vendor, inbound and outbound freight.Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services.Negotiate prices and delivery times with suppliers within limits of authority.Work cross-functionally with sales and product management.Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly plans and prioritize and schedule activities to meet targets.Comply with ISO9001, OCHSA 18001 and ISO14001 standards.Lead the safety effort and awareness within the area of responsibility.Conduct safety observations and highlight any non-conformances.Manage performance of associates through Performance Appraisals and ensure development plans for all subordinates are completed based on the tools provided.Manage the order placement, logistics, and freight forwarding function effectively.Provide regular reports and communicate plans, objectives, results, and problems to Management.Participate in creating and managing the departmental budget.Adhere to all SOX Compliance Controls concerning the narratives applicable to your area of responsibility.What do you need to bring?Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain / Logistics Management or General Business Management.5-10 years of relevant experience in supply chain management.Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions.Ability to work cross-functionally with sales and product management.Proven leadership and people management skills.Problem solver with good influencing skills.Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly adaptable.Good communication and negotiation skills.What will you get in return?You will have the opportunity to work for a global engineering organisation in a challenging and dynamic role with great career development opportunities.
