About the Role Our client is seeking a senior and suitably qualified SHEQ Manager to manage the business unit Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality team and function for its Plant Services Business Unit.
This dynamic role requires strong leadership, collaborative problem solving and thought leadership skills to drive an integrated SHERQ risk management agenda.
Reports To : Plant Services BU Managing Director Location: Jet Park, Boksburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa Key Responsibilities Input for the effective development, control, and utilization of the SHEQ budget. Inform and guide management towards SHEQ legal and organizational compliance.
Maintain and improve SHEQ processes and documentation to ensure alignment to Babcock and Client requirements as well as international SHEPQ standards. Assist management in maintaining and improving the core value chain and other support function processes and documentation. Ensure Business Unit certification to current ISO 45001 (H&S), 14001 (EP) and 19001 (Q) requirements. Actively participate in local and International Group SHEQ forums and activities as required. Ensure the effective implementation of Business Unit, local and international Group SHEQ systems, programs and initiatives. Facilitating and driving a safe behaviour culture within the business unit. Align responsibility outputs to ensure compliance with the key performance indicators in the Africa SHEQ objectives and targets and the International Group balanced scorecard.
Facilitate SHEQ event investigations to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions, to prevent recurrences, share lessons learned and promote continual improvement. Manage and provide business support to ensure all corrective actions (CARs) and non-conformances (NCRs) are closed out timeously. Ensure accurate and timely reporting and communication of the required SHEQ data and information. Provide sufficient guidance and opportunities for SHEQ staff to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. Cater for the positive development and growth opportunities of the SHEQ department staff. Requirements What We're Looking For Qualifications : Matric or equivalent.
Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 7 in SHEQ-related tertiary Qualification or equivalent Knowledge and Experience : 5-7 years of work experience in the Engineering, maintenance, and plant services industry with equal experience in integrated SHERQ risk management. Proven track record of leading teams across multiple operating sites.
Skills and competencies: Strategic and operational team player Exceptional planning, organization, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Relationship mastery with emphasis on communication and influencing skills Strategic and operational team player. Leadership and mentoring ability SHERQ thought leadership SHEQ processes, systems, health risk assessments, and risk controls. Integrated risk management principles and processes. Proficiency in written and oral communication, process modelling, and report writing. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Financial acumen and numeracy skills.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Strong customer service orientation and leadership qualities.
Emotional intelligence and self-management.
