Description: The Land(scape) and Memory Studio introduces concepts, terminology, and design research tools toward academic and professional work that requires attentiveness to cultural and political history, history telling, cultural practices, community engagement, multi-cultural collaborations, as well as the creation of spaces for ongoing public participation, dialogue, stewardship, shared governance, and civic expression. These are all competencies of equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), social justice, and Truth and Reconciliation that are becoming core to Landscape Architecture practice today, especially in public and institutional work, as well as with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
Class Schedule: Monday 9:00-18:00; Thursday 14:30-18:30
Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2025 - April 30, 2025
Estimate of Course Enrolment: Approximately 11 students
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $18,915.79; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,861.58; Sessional Lecturer II - $20,243.53; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $20,653.23; Sessional Lecturer III - $20,725.52; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $21,140.03 (inclusive of vacation pay)
Minimum Qualifications: MLA degree or other graduate degree in Landscape Architecture preferred. We are seeking applicants with a proven record of teaching foundation design studios at the MLA and/or BLA level.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of contemporary landscape architecture pedagogy and the current state of the discipline, at both practical and theoretical levels, is highly desirable.
Description of Duties: Attending meetings required by studio coordinator; preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work; submission of grades; dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions; and student contact hours.
