The Role The purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for program and risk management of the project as well as overall project planning reporting. They will also contribute to the improvement of project management methods and processes within the Construction Business.
Key responsibilities include: To manage the project control resources required to deliver a cross functional engineering project.To support the project with progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement.Minimise disputes and claims by pro-active communication with internal and external stakeholders.Developing and managing the baseline schedule, monitoring and reporting on project performance, controlling changes to the baseline, managing project risks, and providing guidance and tools for earned value management.Providing advice and consultation on the implementation of good planning procedures and controls. This covers information on earned value management, cost and schedule variance analysis, completion estimations, and critical path analysis. They help the project team make informed decisions and keep control of the project by providing experience in these areas. Support programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, and project controls best practices.Assists program integration initiatives by building governance structures, defining formats and standards, optimizing project planning, and encouraging best practices in project controls. Endeavor to ensure that diverse program components are seamlessly integrated and that defined project controls protocols are followed.Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls and Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects.Support the development of integrated master schedules for specific programmes in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project that reflect all interface milestones and activity durations from multiple contractors' schedules and feed changes to the integrated master schedule.Monitor and control programme compliance in respect of the various contractual obligationsAdditional responsibilities: Ensuring the Project controls function produce weekly / monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project.Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for the agreed Scope of Work across integrated programmes managed across multiple suppliers.Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls and Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projectsSupport the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial manager and other team members to maximise the potential of the projectEducation & Experience: Technical/Commercial related tertiary qualification, preferably Quantity Surveying or Engineering5 years of experience in construction project management, including planning/scheduling, cost management, contract management, change management: preferably in renewable energy industriesAbility to lead project controls effort within an operational area of the business to meet organizational objectivesComprehensive understanding of Work Breakdown Structure and project Coding structures and ability to implement cost management work processes on projectsComprehensive understanding of construction estimating methodologies.Comprehensive understanding of risk managementDemonstrated problem solving ability in cross-functional environment.Advanced MS Excel.Software systems and packages including Primavera P6 or MS ProjectAbility to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.An experienced user of the relevant Programme tools, techniquesExperience in the implementation of Earned Value Management based Project Control systems, in accordance with relevant national standardsExperience in working on FIDIC and/or NEC projectsPractical ability to utilise critical project management concepts (e.g. EVM, project planning, risk analysis, configuration managementComputer literate & experienced in Microsoft Office applications.Character & Attributes Enthusiastic commitment to the renewable energy industryAbility to demonstrate high standards of ethical conduct, honesty, and integrityHigh attention to accuracyCost consciousThe capacity and willingness to perform hands-on tasksSelf-motivated with the ability to work both individually and as a part of a small, skilled, and highly focused team, with a "can-do" attitude and willingness to take ownership of delivering on their goals and responsibilitiesProactive approach to problem-solving and comfortable to make recommendations around resolving challengesStrong commercial acumen and an ability to think and act strategically to maximize opportunities for the businessFlexible working style, able to work at a variety of different levels both inside and outside the organisation and with members of the team being in different locationsTeam playerComfortable, available and willing to travel and do business within Africa at timesHigh attention to detail including adherence to company proceduresResourceful, well organised and effective at accomplishing objectivesAbility to learn quickly and meet deadlinesAbility to problem-solveEmployment Package Outline: Salary: Market Related
