Key Responsibilities:Inventory Management, Stock Optimization, Data Management & Reporting:Oversee the entire stock control process, ensuring inventory levels meet operational requirements without excessive surplus or shortageMaintain accurate records of stock movements, purchases, and usage of raw materials, parts, equipment, and consumablesCoordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering and replenishment of stockConduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system recordsAnalyse and monitor inventory turnover rates, usage trends, and stock levels to improve inventory efficiency and reduce wastageImplement stock control strategies that ensure cost-effective practices while maintaining operational readinessAnalyse and monitor inventory turnover rates, usage trends, and stock levels to improve inventory efficiency and reduce wastageImplement stock control strategies that ensure cost-effective practices while maintaining operational readinessHealth, Safety, and Compliance, Supplier and Vendor Relations: Ensure that stock is stored, handled, and managed according to safety regulations and best practices, including hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, explosives)Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations governing inventory and supply chain processesWork closely with the safety and environmental teams to ensure compliance with mining safety standardsLiaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal departments to address stock shortages or overstock issuesNegotiate with vendors for better pricing, timely delivery, and quality assurance on critical stock itemsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the supply chain Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement:Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to junior stock controllers and warehouse staffTrain staff on stock control processes, inventory systems, and best practicesIdentify opportunities for process improvements in inventory control and stock management practicesLead initiatives to automate or streamline stock control systems and processesEvaluate and introduce new technologies or methodologies to enhance inventory managementMinimum Requirements:Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related fieldRelevant certifications in inventory or logistics management (e.g., APICS, CILT) are a plusMinimum of 58 years of experience in inventory management, stock control, or supply chain management, with at least 23 years in the mining sector or a related industryExpertise in stock control techniques, cycle counting, and stock reconciliationProficiency in using inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems)Strong analytical skills to evaluate stock movements and generate insightful reportsAdvanced skills in Excel for creating spreadsheets, data analysis, and reportingKnowledge of supply chain principles, inventory strategies, and procurement processesUnderstanding of the health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining sectorFamiliarity with legal and regulatory frameworks surrounding inventory control, hazardous materials, and international trade lawsBasic understanding of logistics and transportation to ensure timely deliveries and stock management
