Safety Manager

Job Title: Safety Manager - KZN - MiningLocation: KwaZulu-Natal, South AfricaReports to: Mining ManagerOverviewThe Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors within the mining operations in KwaZulu-Natal. This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and procedures to prevent workplace injuries and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain safety programs that comply with all relevant health and safety regulations and best practicesConduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions as neededProvide safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulationsInvestigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventative measuresDevelop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate emergency drills and exercisesManage and monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper PPE is worn at all timesParticipate in safety committees, meetings, and inspections to promote a culture of safety within the organizationLiaise with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and local communities on safety-related mattersQualificationsBachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, mining, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role within the mining industryKnowledge of South African health and safety regulations, including the Mine Health and Safety ActProfessional certifications such as SAMTRAC, ISO 45001, or NEBOSH are preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levelsProven track record of developing and implementing safety programs that have resulted in improved safety performanceAbility to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentValid driver's licenseBenefitsSalary: R1.5m - R1.6mContact Hire Resolve for your next career-changing move.
