At least 3 years previous experience as an Area Manager of multiple stores.
Competencies: Strong retail business acumen and trader mentality.Computer literate (Intermediate to advanced Excel is a must).Target and turnover driven, whilst being security conscious.Good administration, planning, and time management skills.Good interviewing and recruitment skills.Excellent management and IR skills.Strong leadership, training, and coaching skills – able to motivate and inspire.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of merchandising principles and fashion.Your MissionWe are looking for a Retail Area Manager in Johannesburg. The Retail Area Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of store operations within the specific geographic area (JHB: The Palms, Stoneridge, Carnival, East Point, East Gate, New Market), to ensure the achievement of all strategic business initiatives, goals, and objectives. Manage the business profitability in alignment with the Brand Strategy and Vision. Build a strong team that delivers sales, profit results, and ensures execution of all company programs and initiatives.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Sales Strategy and Performance Monitoring:Strategically monitor the sales performance of all stores within your area.Analyse weekly and monthly sales reports to identify trends and opportunities.Collaborate with store managers to develop action plans for achieving targets.Implement effective sales strategies to enhance revenue and meet objectives.Workforce Planning and HR Support:Develop staffing schedules that align with budgetary considerations and demand fluctuations.Provide support to store managers in HR-related matters, including recruitment, scheduling, and discipline.Foster a positive work environment by promoting employee development and engagement.Manage Succession Planning in the Area through the identification of individuals with potential for development and growth.Operational Excellence:Act as a point of contact for store managers in handling operational challenges and resolving issues promptly.Ensure that stores operate in compliance with company policies, protocols, and guidelines.Oversee store maintenance activities, escalating critical issues for timely resolution.Manage Store Operations to ensure timeous execution and compliance of floor set guidelines, promotions, product presentation, and visual standards.Compliance and Auditing:Conduct regular audits of stores, particularly focusing on banking, cash management, and cash-based activities.Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure thorough and clear DOL (Department of Labor) store audits.Uphold Health & Safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both employees and customers.Conduct supervised cycle counts.Brand Consistency:Maintain a consistent and distinctive Brand look and feel across all stores.Collaborate with Visual Team to ensure that the brand's visual merchandising guidelines are adhered to.Manage Store Operations to ensure timeous execution and compliance of floor set guidelines, promotions, product presentation, and visual standards.Industry Awareness and Adaptation:Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in retail management.Adapt strategies to align with changing market conditions and consumer preferences.Maintain and grow knowledge of competitor product, activity, price points, and marketing in order to initiate new and innovative proposals to grow Brand identity and sales.PUMA provides equal opportunities for all job applicants, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
