Requirements:Current Registration with SANC as a Registered NursePost Basic Qualification in Critical Care General will be advantageous (Certificate or Diploma)Minimum 2 - 3 years proven experience as a Registered Nurse in Paediatric High CareShift work compulsory and work overtime when requiredBe flexible and willing to assist in other departmentsKey Outputs:Demonstrate passion for children and their parents / carersStrong quality patient care orientationBLS competentSupervise and orientate junior staff members and studentsPerform teaching rounds with junior staff members and studentsCompetently administering oral medicationCompetent in infant, toddler and child physical assessmentPerform wound careHigh energy levels and tolerance for stress/pressureProblem analysis/solving skills and accurate record keepingAdaptable and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levelsAbility to render basic and advanced nursing care without supervisionBe prepared to partake in in-service training program, by attending and presenting talks formally and informallyAssist the Paediatrician during the ward roundsAdhere to hospital policies, protocols and best practicesKnowledge and insight into infection prevention principlesPromote and maintain patient health and give health education to parents and patientsKnowledge of scientific nursing processAble to complete patient assessments, compiling and implementation of appropriate nursing care planSafe administration of medication, and knowledge of management of schedule medicationAdhere and enforce hospital policies and protocols and quality improvement initiativesAd hoc duties
