Principal Tailings Dam Breach Engineer

We have a client with an amazing opportunity based in Johannesburg, Gauteng .
Role : Principal Tailings Dam Breach Engineer Industry : Engineering (Environmental Geotechnical, Mineral Residue Management) Level : Senior/Principal Engineer Key Requirements: Qualification : Civil Engineering or equivalent international undergraduate degree (post-graduate degree preferred) with specialization in water engineering, soil mechanics, and/or mineral residue design and management.
Post-graduate studies in water engineering are an advantage.
Professional Registration : Registered Professional Engineer Experience : 15 years of experience, with at least 8 years in consulting Technical Expertise : Extensive experience in tailings dam breach analysis, inundation studies, soil mechanics, and tailings engineering projects.
Knowledge : Strong working knowledge of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), international standards and codes, and SANS 10286.
Role Responsibilities: Lead dam breach and inundation studies for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).
Oversee geotechnical investigations to evaluate engineering properties and in-situ conditions of TSFs.
Serve as the Engineer of Record during the construction, operating, decommissioning, and closure phases of TSFs.
Contribute to the development and application of residue management technology, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of innovation.
