Purpose of Job: To operate the plant in an efficient manner following the operation procedures in order to satisfy safety, environmental, technical capability, National Transmission company protocols and standards, the codes and the law.Qualifications:Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical EngineeringExperience: Minimum 10 years' experience in the operation of a power plant, oil and gas, petrochemical or in the chemical industry, 3 of which should have been in the capacity of Operations Manager in a large thermos solar power plantKnowledge of HSSE policies and proceduresExperience in the operation of a Solar PlantAbility to analyse situations and solve problemsAbility to work under pressureMethodical and efficientHonest, trustworthy and reliableHighly motivated and self-drivenFlexibleAreas of Responsibility:Organizing and co-ordinating resources, prioritize activities to ensure the plant operation in accordance with the load dispatch requirements and weather forecast.Timely response on any plant operational problem.Ensuring all operation activities are performed in compliance with laws and regulation.Develop and guide the implementation of work safety procedures and practices.Keep updated guidelines and procedures.Organizing and co-ordinating required technical training to enhance the professional skills of the Operations team.Responsible for providing high standard plant operation service according to O&M agreement.Responsible for the overall administration and supervision of operation staff and operating activities in accordance with established work plans and schedules.Develop and establish cleaning strategies to keep reflectivity of Solar Field according to O&M agreement.Participate in and concur with decisions regarding new design criteria, technical specifications and operating methods related to the plant.Provide inputs and guidance to the preparation of plant operating budget and cost control systems.Directly supervise and assume responsibility for the performance of the operating personnel reporting to him/her.Conduct regular meetings with senior subordinates to discuss work progress, schedules, problems, interferences, priorities, etc.Assume responsibility for efficiency and progress of work in accordance with production schedules and establish standards.Recommend to the Head of O&M and initiate changes in methods, schedules and procedures needed to meet specific exigencies of the plant operations.Maintain an information system, which provides sufficient data to ensure that operations are being accomplished within specified limits, schedules and technical parameters.Ensure and advise on proper and effective allocation and development of human resources to ensure maximum efficiency.Submit periodic reports to Head of O&M and keep him informed regarding all matters relating to plant operations.If not in Northern Cape, must be able to relocate themselves.
