Our dynamic client is looking for an experienced Operations Managerto organise and oversee the design and manufacture of our wide range of steel products. You will be ultimately responsible for the smooth running of production and the quality of output to schedule and budget.We expect you to have an in-depth knowledge of efficient production processes. The ability to direct personnel towards maximum performance will set you apart as a leader. Decision-making and problem-solving will take up a great part of your day.The goal is to ensure an efficient and productive design and manufacturing process that meets customer requirements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLiaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.Oversee and lead the design process to ensure it delivers high quality, cost effective and timely solutions in line with business needs.Organise workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.Monitor and drive production to achieve deadlines and continuously improve, resolving issues that arise.Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel.Determine amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.)Ensure that an acceptable level of Housekeeping is maintained within the production environment.Work with Maintenance personnel and others to schedule planned maintenance work, specify and purchase equipment, etc.To continually maintain and improve the quality of products.Enforce and develop health and safety and environmental systems, supported by the SHEQ Co-Ordinator, to meet relevant standards.Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives.Define, propose and implement monthly and annual production targets and plans.Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs and identify/rectify waste measures.Manage all activities within the production process, including maintenance and the production workforce.Create and implement organisational/production changes on an operational level.Focus on growing business by implementing the necessary changes to the product/production line to enter new markets.Desired Experience & QualificationProven experience in production management ideally from within the Steel industry.Experience in design for customer specific product applications and product development.Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.Knowledge on legal aspects relating to Labour, Manufacturing and Design.Knowledge of performance evaluation.Experience in reporting on key production metrics.Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk.Working well with many different departments and external suppliers/clients.Being results and deadline driven.Outstanding communication ability.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Experience of HR management and recruitment within a functional operational role.Willingness to be flexible in order to meet the business needs.Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.Proficient in MS Office and a working knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing systems.Package & RemunerationNegotiable
