The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all activities and deliverables to obtain and maintain Market Access, Reimbursement, and Strategic Optimal Pricing for Pfizer's products. He/She needs to have a good understanding of interests, drivers, and needs of value for payers and their key influencers. He/She will need to work with the cross-functional team to develop access strategies that are in line with the overall brand strategy (tailored to local payer and other stakeholders' interests and needs), and implement key activities targeted at external payer customers and influencers within South Africa and Southern African Region.
Responsibilities: Maintain expertise in local access legislation and payer landscapeMaintains updated identification, mapping and segmentation of key stakeholdersEnsures the inclusion of payer customer insights in strategic planning processesDevelopment (and execution, as applicable) of portfolio Market Access plans for key products and therapeutic areas, that balance individual brand considerations with longer term portfolio and payer-relationship prioritiesSupports payer and patient research activities to understand stakeholder requirements, for selected products/therapies, and health technology/assessment hurdles in local marketsSupports development of robust, credible value arguments and propositions for Pfizer productsLeads external interaction with payer stakeholders, including stakeholder strategy, relationship management and development of innovative partnershipsMaintains and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of market access strategies, activities and programsEstablishes strong working relationships across functions, contributing ideas, strategies, team/matrix leadership in an innovative, thought provoking and collegial mannerLeads development of strategic pricing recommendations and contracting strategy across Pfizer's portfolio, advising Pfizer businesses on pricing strategies that support commercial objectives and operating plans.Supports business in understanding and managing external price execution across the full Pfizer portfolio, in the private, public and export markets (where applicable).Evaluate and analyse available health economic data required to support market access and commercial strategiesGeneration of new evidence (e.g., real world data) to support the value propositionLeads and develops the overall strategies relating to patient support programs and operationalization requirements including managing contract employeesKey Deliverables: Leads the development and implementation of Market Access plans (Pricing, Access and Reimbursement strategies) for individual productsDevelopment of robust prices for the Pfizer portfolio which are coherent across the various customers.Submission of price requests/ changes to local authorities, as applicable, and in compliance with local legislationCoordinates cross functional team's effort in the development and delivery of dossier submissionsLeads development of Product-specific local Payer Value PropositionsMaintenance of accurate pricing information in applicable systems and as per applicable processes and SOPs.Patient Support Program governanceEducation and experience: BPharm /MBBCh /BSc or and equivalent Health Sciences qualification;A demonstrated track record of at least 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a healthcare payerA demonstrated track record of translating commercial strategy into a detailed implementation planExperience in Pricing analyses and strategy, Financial modelling, Evaluation of clinical and economic literature, Preparation of value dossiersExcellent MS Excel skillsGood business acumenKnowledge of the local healthcare system and its major players and decision-makersTechnical Skills: Excellent analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOrganization, prioritisation and project management skillsPayer and country access expertisePricing, value and access strategy development and executionScenario planning in support of pricing and access negotiationsKnowledge of finance in support of pricing strategiesWorking knowledge of health economics and health technology assessmentsAbility to interpret and critically evaluate clinical dataKey Leadership competencies: Decisive- manages complexity to make timely, informed decisionsFocused- develops impactful short- and long-term solutions for payer customers to support better patient access and outcomesConnected- collaborates with others to accomplish shared goalsInspiring- motivates and develops self and other to move the business forwardCourageous- consistently demonstrates accountability in the face of challengesResilient- responds to change with agility and optimism and innovationAccountable- Sets high personal standards and can be relied upon to deliver projects on time; within budget and to qualityCommits to "One Pfizer"- Has the ability to see the "big picture" and can work across functions in the best interest of the business.
