Not only are we one of Canada's Best Employers, we are one of Canada's Greenest Employers.Reporting to the Director, Client Experience & Innovation, the Manager is responsible for managing the Facilities & Services (F&S) Communications team and all departmental communications planning and digital and print content production.The Manager develops and executes the integrated departmental communications content strategy that engages client, campus community, and internal staff audiences. The Manager also collaborates with colleagues and key stakeholders to develop and implement communications plans for new high-visibility facilities and sustainability projects, programs, initiatives, and events.The Manager provides strategic, creative, and technical leadership and guidance for content creation from initial development to execution and measurement. In collaboration with the team, the Manager is responsible for managing an integrated content calendar, determining and selecting appropriate platforms and channels, executing and assigning content creation, and editing and approving all work for publication.As the primary steward and champion of the F&S brand and positioning on campus, the Manager works to ensure brand alignment and appropriateness in all communications plans and materials within the overarching institutional brand framework—leading the team in creating, evolving, managing, and maintaining brand, house and visual style guidelines and resources.The Manager will be responsible for actively building and maintaining relationships and collaborating on initiatives with a broad network of communicators across the University, including but not limited to University of Toronto Communications, Advancement & Branding, Student Life Communications, and divisional/departmental communications teams.Often privy to sensitive and confidential information, together with the Director and F&S senior management, the Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing effective internal communication plans and materials. The Manager will also support media relations and issues management related to F&S and major projects.Operating within a culture of continuous improvement, the Manager will strive to continuously measure, reflect on, and improve reach and impact of communications and their support of the F&S strategic vision and priorities.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, journalism, or a related fieldEXPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in communications and/or marketing rolesOne to two years of managerial experience, including experience managing budgets and personnel requiredExtensive experience developing internal communications plans, often on complex topics.Experience in management of communications issues involving human resource and labour relations.Strong background in project management.Experience working in a complex university environment or equivalent.Demonstrated skills and experience in managing and leading staff in a unionized environment is an assetExperience managing social media accounts and campaigns is preferred.SKILLS:Superior written and verbal communication skills.Superior interpersonal skills to effectively build and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders and to provide sound counsel.A strong creative and strategic thinker.
