Overview:
My client is looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Accountant/Tax Practitioner (Must be Registered as a Tax Practitioner) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax and accounting, particularly in completing income tax returns, evaluating assessments, and managing various tax-related tasks. This role requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and SARS consultants.
Key Responsibilities: Income Tax Returns: Complete and submit Trust, Individual, and Company income tax returns. Evaluating Assessments: Evaluate and check tax assessments, identifying and correcting any errors. SARS Correspondence: Correspond with SARS consultants and manage tax return queries. SARS Procedures: Understand and adhere to SARS procedures and deadlines. Problem Solving: Address tax-related issues and queries, providing effective solutions. Client Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients regarding their tax matters. General Tax Queries: Assist with various tax queries and ad hoc tax tasks. Pressure Management: Work efficiently under pressure, meeting deadlines while delivering high-quality work. Team Support: Support other members of the department as needed. Liaising with Clients: Liaise with clients to gather information and provide updates on their tax status. Refund Matters: Handle queries related to tax refunds. Annual Financial Statements: Assist and review annual financial statements in coordination with the assistant accountant. Provisional Tax: Calculate and submit provisional tax. Donations and Tax Compliance: Manage tax clearance certificates, foreign investment tax clearance, and ensure tax compliance with SARS. Registrations: Handle VAT and PAYE registrations. Tax Directives: Request tax directives and handle payment suspensions/appeals. Administrative Tasks: Manage mail, calls, and appointments with SARS agents. Meetings with SARS: Attend meetings with SARS representatives as required. Qualifications and Experience: Experience: Minimum 1 year of working experience in a similar position within a tax and accounting environment is essential. Education: A degree in Accounting, Tax, or equivalent qualification compulsory. Certification: Registered tax practitioner – A MUST. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act. Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, client communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
