Job Description
Responsible for total revenue management strategy and tactics, working in tandem with the sales, marketing and operational teams to maximise revenue opportunities in rooms and groups. Development and implementation of effective revenue management processes, pricing strategies and inventory management for all segments based on future demand forecast, current and historical trends.
Commercial Responsibilities
To deliver the annual budgeted total revenues alongside the sales and marketing team.
Prepare annual commercial business plan as well as budget for all revenue streams.
Ensure that there is a clear vision of what the sales objectives for the business are and that these are clearly communicated to all stakeholders (including team members, senior management as well as owners representatives).
Deliver excellent design and execution of the commercial strategy via monthly Revenue Meetings, Monthly Business reviews and board meetings.
Ensure that all distribution channels (online, offline direct, indirect) are fit for purpose.
Work closely together with Sales & Marketing to direct sales efforts with relevant and specific demand generation requirements.
Monitoring competitor activity and strategies and adjust own tactics/strategies if necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market demand generators (businesses leaving/entering the market, special projects, city events, national events, political factors, economic factors, technology etc.).
Complete daily, weekly and monthly reporting to analyze booking patterns and business trends to guide any necessary adjustments in strategies.
Complete a detailed and accurate month end review with all correct figures and relevant commentary within expected deadlines.
Set clear pricing strategies across all revenue generating departments.
Evaluate the Reserves presence and opportunities for improvement on all e-channels, TripAdvisor, social media, local community and partnership sites.
Put SOPs in place.
Team Management
Directly support the Reservations team for rooms.
Work closely with Finance management for appropriate target setting and measurement of performance.
Ensure that effective and up to date personal development plans and performance reviews are maintained for the team.
Ensure that the strategy is underpinned by an appropriate organizational structure and that recruitment and selection is timely and support the business needs.
Foster a real "commercial performance culture" with appropriate incentives, development and reward and recognition systems in place.
Measurement
Delivery of total revenue versus budget and last year.
Delivery of agreed revenue results against primary competitive set.
Qualifications
Relevant hospitality management qualification.
Skills
Experience in similar role within a game lodge/hospitality operation is advantageous.
Analytical.
Ability to identify travel trends.
Manage OTAs.
Target driven.
Ability to handle budgets.
Sales experience is an advantage.
Candidate must be based in Durban area.
