The candidate will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa and reporting to the Vice President SSA and dotted line reporting to the IT Operations Director EMEA. The suitable candidate will be responsible for proper functionality of the IT services for the ALS businesses within Africa. In addition, the position must ensure excellent service delivery in a timeous manner.

Efficient and Effective Operations Develops relationships within the ALS Africa business to assess the support, technology, and security needs.Provides IT assessments, and acquires IT equipment and service packages for the operations.Offers innovative solutions that meet the business needs while remaining cost effective.Submits CEPs for new equipment within the SSA region.Manages projects by creating timelines, adhering to budgets, and assigning staff members.Maintains relationships with technology, software, and security vendors.Manages and assesses the performance of the staff members who specialize in IT support and installation.Identifies staffing needs and works with human resources colleagues to pursue the hiring process.Maintains familiarity with current and upcoming IT equipment, services, and other developments.Coordinates troubleshooting, support, and service for equipment and networks when necessary within the Africa region.Upholds a sense of customer service and measures client satisfaction.Manages the Help Desk for Africa including providing end-user support and ensuring operational effectiveness of the system.Attends industry events and trade exhibitions to learn about cutting-edge product releases and news.Creates and maintains user accounts as authorised including building and installing hardware and software per the Group's Standard Operating Environment.Installs and maintains printers, laptops, and PCs.Maintains a register of computers, software, and licenses.Develops, documents, and maintains operational policies and procedures.Provides end-user training and documentation (where required). Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation Adheres to ALS Quality Management System.Alerts the management to key emerging risk areas.Makes input to improve risk mitigation strategies.Actively participates in crisis management activities as and when required.Finance Prepares yearly and project-based budgets.Generates and monitors monthly billing reports from telecommunication bills.Human Resource Conducts and completes the Performance Appraisals for the Africa IT staff.Evaluates, plans, motivates, and develops the management team within the region through appropriate training and technical support to achieve optimal performance levels.Ensures time and attendance in strict accordance with ALS policies for all staff in the area of responsibility example planned leave.Assists HR with annual salary reviews and bonus reviews for the IT staff within the region.Assists with the recruitment of direct line reports.Ensures that all company policies are being implemented, adhered to, and appropriate disciplinary measures instituted against violations of such policies.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have excellent written and verbal English skills. French will be advantageous.Must be able to interact and communicate in a respectful manner taking into consideration the diverse cultures.Able to travel.Excellent fiscal, numerical, and analytical skills.Strategic planning/thinking and implementation abilities.Maintains confidentiality and integrity.Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.Able to anticipate needs and must be responsive to enquiries.Inspires and drives excellence in all aspects of work.The successful candidate would be: Relevant IT Qualifications.A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field may be beneficial.Minimum - 10 years' computers and networks experience within multinational companies, as the role comprises 50% technical and 50% managerial functions.
