As a Health, Safety, Environmental and Security leader you will be responsible for understanding and driving the global safety strategy at the regional level. This role will be located in South Africa.
Your Responsibilities: Support manufacturing and service HSE professionals with implementation of global management systems including ISO 14001 and 45001 systems. Lead weekly HSE team meetings and on-site events, promoting and driving a culture of continuous improvement serving as a valued business partner. Drive and chair regional executive incident review board (EIRB) and ensure the quality and implementation of root cause corrective action. Daily participation in lean manufacturing programs, and the FLS near miss/safety concern system "Go, Look, See", ensuring HSE & S issues are deliberated, mitigated and communicated to the issuer. Ensure legal compliance, create toolbox talk, follow up on "Stop Work" reports, secure permits to operate compliance etc. Ensure training systems of workforce i.e. emergency training, on-boarding programs and cultural program development as applicable. Review suppliers' compliance, visitors access and train sub-contractor to ensure compliance to FLSmidth procedure/standards. Maintain audit, management review, safety walk, inspection, industrial hygiene programs, legal controls, contractor/vendors review. Perform analysis and investigation of hazards, security risks, incident, near miss and safety observations ensuring accurate reporting, mitigated and actions are implemented. Regional Reporting and maintain data accuracy in systems and ensure timely reporting, contribute to quarterly/annual reports. Design and implement programs to eliminate and prevent disease, injury or environmental issues within the framework of the global & regional HSE standards. Analyze work environments and site standards as a basis for action required to improve conditions and to meet the global standards for HSE. Estimate risks and provide input to improve procedures on how to reduce risks and improve security posturing. Evaluate machinery to ensure that they function without risk of personal injury or environmental pollution - Compile risk assessments for this activity. Identify hazards according to standard procedure and establish and maintain a system for handling and disposing of hazardous materials. Establish and build relations with relevant authorities. What You Bring: College degree or equivalent technical school (preferred). Qualifications could include: SAMTRAC, NEBOSH International or National Diploma, QCTO as OHS Practitioner or equivalent. CSP or CIH highly desirable as well. Experience with implementation/or use of ISO standards, internal/external audit and certifications processes (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001). Experience leading safety, security and environmental performance activities in manufacturing. Professional in leading and conducting incident investigations using recognized methodology (including Near Miss and safety observations). Leading and driving safety culture programs, driving performance through employee and leadership engagements. Proof in using HSE digital platforms for reporting of HSE master data. Experience in driving environmental performance i.e. through impact and aspect assessments. Able to engage, train and educate shop floor workforce in general HSE risk and precautions. Understanding and knowhow on 5S principles, able to drive implementation on shop floor. 5 years of previous experience in a similar safety role within mining or a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and processes. Effective presentation skills and experience delivering safety training. Advanced Microsoft Office abilities (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative.
