Hire Resolve is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual for a client at an investment management firm to join their team as the Head of Finance & Compliance (HFC). This position plays a vital role in the effective and compliant functioning of the company. Utilizes comprehensive understanding of regulations, methodologies, and procedures. Establishes personal priorities to address all functions effectively. Engages in diverse aspects of company operations as needed periodically.Role Overview: The Head of Finance & Compliance (HFC) assumes a pivotal mid-management position, requiring professional qualifications and substantial experience. The incumbent is tasked with overseeing daily operations, ensuring operational efficiency, and managing critical support functions encompassing Finance, Risk, Compliance, and select operational areas. The HFC's contribution is integral to the company's effective and compliant operations.Main DutiesFinance Management: Oversight of all finance activities:Coordinate and supervise independent auditors to resolve audit issues and ensure compliance with IFRS for the preparation of annual financial statements. Review monthly management accounts, financial input for the Visio Board and its committees, budgets, valuations for staff share scheme, and submissions to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). Manage Visio's Black Economic Empowerment policy and rating. Handle Payroll function and outsource providers.Risk and Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain robust risk management and compliance programs to meet regulatory requirements and protect the firm's operations:Collaborate with external compliance services provider for monthly reviews. Generate reports for regulatory bodies and maintain documentation demonstrating adherence to legal and ethical standards. Implement comprehensive risk management strategies covering operational, financial, and compliance risks to identify and mitigate potential threats. Update and maintain company policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures. Serve as a member of the Risk & Compliance Committee.Other:Supervising business insurance and other office-related affairs. Coordinating activities, agendas, and materials for EXCO, Board, and other committee meetings.RequirementsKey Skills:Financial Proficiency: Mastery in financial management, budgeting, and financial planning. Regulatory Expertise: Demonstrated comprehension of financial regulations and compliance requisites within the investment sector. Risk Oversight: Aptitude in recognizing, evaluating, and mitigating risks across diverse operational domains. Communication Prowess: Effective communication abilities essential for collaboration with internal divisions, leadership, and external stakeholders.Experience Criteria:Chartered Accountant (South Africa) qualification. A minimum of 3 to 8 years of experience in operational and finance roles within the investment industry.
