Well established company based in Zwelitsha are looking for a dynamic and experienced applicant to join their team. The Fruit and Veg Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fruit and vegetable department. This includes managing inventory, ensuring the quality of produce, coordinating with suppliers, and leading a team to deliver excellent customer service. The goal is to maximize sales, ensure freshness and maintain an attractive and organized department.Key Responsibilities:Inventory Management:Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure optimal inventoryOrder and replenish stock based on sales trends and seasonal availabilityTrack and manage spoilage, waste, and shrinkageQuality Control:Ensure that all fruits and vegetables meet quality standardsRegularly inspect produce for freshness, ripeness and overall qualityImplement and enforce proper handling and storage practices to maintain product qualityVendor Coordination:Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendorsNegotiate prices and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effectivenessStay informed about market trends and seasonal variations in produceTeam Leadership:Hire, train and supervise department staffSchedule shifts and manage staff performanceFoster a positive work environment and promote teamworkSales and Customer Service:Develop and implement sales strategies to boost department performanceAddress customer inquiries, feedback and complaints in a professional mannerEnsure that produce displays are attractive and effectively marketedCompliance and Safety:Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and store policiesMaintain cleanliness and organization of the departmentConduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to standardsReporting and Administration:Prepare and analyse reports on sales, inventory and performance metricsAssist in budget planning and cost controlHandle administrative tasks such as ordering, receiving and documenting inventoryQualifications:Education: Grade 12 or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, retail management or a related field preferredExperience: Previous experience in retail management, particularly in fresh produce, is highly desirableSkills: Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent customer service abilities and proficiency in inventory management systemsKnowledge: Understanding of produce quality standards, supply chain processes and market trendsPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and carry heavy items (boxes of produce)Capable of standing for extended periods and working in various environmental conditions (coolers)Typically works in a retail environment with exposure to varying temperatures and physical demandsShould you wish to apply please submit your CV through for consideration.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
