The Faircape Management Services (FMS Property Managers) has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller. This role covers the full accounting function of a portfolio of properties and works closely with the Property Portfolio Manager to ensure the well being and financial viability of a scheme.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, who takes initiative and is collaborative and is comfortable with all facets of accounting, has the ability to multi-task and is looking to work in a young innovative team.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:Responsible to produce monthly management accounts for the various schemes within their portfolio, including balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedulesEnsure Management Accounts packs are correct, and that due date deadlines are metReview Management Accounts and ensure there are no variances to budget or anomalies on the balance sheet.Ensure any suspense items are investigated and cleared timeously.Review and advise Operations team of any cashflow issuesPrepare audit packs, and ensure any audit queries are dealt timeously and that audits are finalised within due date deadlinesSubmission of statutory returns for VATEnsure all other statutory returns are raised and paid by deadline dateReview of payments for correct allocation and VAT treatmentFull creditors function including payments, supplier verifications, banking and reconciliationsFull debtors function including billing, customer recons and credit control proceduresRespond to and follow up on accounts queriesRespond to ad hoc projects, queries and analyses thereofQualifications:Completed tertiary qualification in AccountingExperience and Knowledge:Proven experience in commercial / corporate / operational environmentExperience in the property sector would be an advantageSolid knowledge of financial processes, systems and related lawsMust have been responsible for managing accounts to balance sheet and income statementMust have been responsible for ensuring that accounts are accurate and meaningful, and information contained in the accounts is accurate and relevant.Skills and Attributes:Ability to analyse financial data to make informed decisionsExcellent analytical and abstract reasoning skillsDeadline orientedExcellent administrative skillsProven organisational skills and good time managementExcellent written and oral communication skillsAttention to detail, including the ability to quickly identify inconsistenciesResponsible, accountable and dedicatedStrong Computer skills (experience in Google Drive, Sheets, Docs advantageous)Specific Requirements:Solid and positive referencesClear health recordClear credit recordNo criminal recordWe offer Barista produced coffee available all day to all our staff at Claremont.
Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45-minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi-time between 07h00 and 18h00.
With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, Faircape offers a market-related salary from R 30 000.00 Cost to Company per month. The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors.
