VPRI provides a full range of services including guidance to faculty, staff and students on funding opportunities, research agreement negotiation, oversight and accountability services including research accounting, environmental health and safety, innovation and entrepreneurship, partnerships, policies and procedures, and institutional awards and honours.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Manager, Budget and Operations, as the Financial Administrator, you will play an integral role in overseeing the day-to-day financial administration of various fund sources, reconciling financial statements, investigating discrepancies and processing payroll. The incumbent will also be responsible for month-end reporting, attendance tracking and onboarding activities in HRIS. Your extensive financial background combined with your solid organizational, analytical, detail-oriented and critical thinking skills will be key to your success in this role.Your responsibilities will include:Planning and administering expenditures for operating budgetsApplying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirementsCollecting supporting documentation required for financial administration, payroll and HRIS processingProcessing payroll and expense reimbursementsGenerating standard financial reportsIdentifying and analyzing data discrepancies and taking necessary actions to correct errorsTracking and monitoring service contracts for payment and renewalPreparing draft employment letters using templatesEssential Qualifications:Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in accounting or business administration, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in financial administration including financial reporting, data collection and data management.Experience providing financial and payroll processing support, including processing expense reimbursements, accounts payable, creating and updating personnel records, entering and tracking timesheets, and troubleshooting discrepancies.Demonstrated experience processing personnel records and payroll functions.Demonstrated understanding of financial management procedures, accounting principles and procedures, and research funding agency policies with an ability to accurately interpret and apply guidelines, procedures and regulations in a variety of situations.Strong skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).Advanced knowledge of financial and human resource software systems such as SAP (e.g. HRIS, FIS) or comparable applications combined with a thorough knowledge of general office systems and procedures.Excellent multitasking with the ability to work in a high volume environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated problem-solving and strong organizational skills.Strong numerical accounting, financial and analytical skills.Ability to work accurately under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize and re-prioritize under frequently shifting circumstances.Professionalism and tact in dealing with a variety of contacts, both internal and external.To be successful in this role you will be:MeticulousMulti-taskerOrganizedResourcefulTeam playerClosing Date: 10/22/2024, 11:59 PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type: Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 10 -- $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595.
