Financial Accountant

This listed financial services group are seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. As Financial Accountant CA (SA) with 2 years post article experience you will play a key role in all aspects of the finance function and will report to the Head of Finance and Financial Director.DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the full accounting function to trial balance of various companies in the groupEnsuring income and expenses are recorded appropriately and allocated to the correct cost centersCalculation of fee incomePreparation of monthly management accounts Detailed review and analysis of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations to month end reportingEnsure quality and timely financial reporting and analysis to support the businessDrafting financial statements in accordance with IFRS and assisting with the Group consolidationPreparation of tax computations and submission of tax returns (VAT, STT, Income tax etc.)Tax compliance and dealing with SARS on any tax mattersResponsible for audit liaison as well as tax, legislative and statutory requirementsEvaluating and improving internal controls across processes and driving automation Capital adequacy maintenance and delivery of regulatory submissionsDaily cash management and authorising of payments on banking systemsResponsible for liaising with suppliers and other stakeholders Provide business support to other divisions and resolving ad-hoc queries Responsible for the ongoing calculation and analysis of product costsROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:You are a CA(SA) with at least 2 years' experience in an accounting roleExperience in the financial services industry will be advantageous Must have good accounting background and understanding of taxPrevious experience using Sage Evolution or other accounting packagesAdvanced Microsoft excel computer skillsCORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:Good attention to detailAbility to work within clear deadlinesProblem solver with clear decision-making skillsGood organizational skillsYou are not afraid of taking ownership Flexible and ability to multi-taskAbility to work within a team yet also bridge between different teamsAbility to set own goals and be self-motivatedStrong communication skills, written and verbal Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
