Job Title: Facilities Manager Department: Operations Employment Type: Full Time INTRODUCTION Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is a public not-for-profit institution that exhibits, collects, preserves, and researches contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora; conceives and hosts international exhibitions; develops supporting educational, discursive, and enrichment programs; encourages intercultural understanding; and strives for access for all. The museum's galleries feature rotating, temporary exhibitions with dedicated spaces for the permanent collection. The institution also includes the Centre for Art Education (CFAE), and the Atelier, a project space for emerging Cape Town-based artists.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that all facilities management, day-to-day building maintenance and other services, large-scale housekeeping, safety and security compliance and operations within the Zeitz MOCAA take place, coordinated, and managed effectively. This role involves leading, supervising and managing both in-house facilities staff and outsourced contractors.
MAIN ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), ensuring that maintenance tasks follow the Operational Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) specified schedules, facilities management, building fabric, internal infrastructure, security systems (CCTV). Additionally, the individual will provide support with various administrative and management functions.
Oversee and manage building maintenance, cleanliness, and safety to ensure a well-functioning, safe, and efficient work environmentEnsure compliance with all building codes, regulations, and safety guidelinesMaintain and optimize building management systems to maximize energy efficiency and occupant comfortManage and monitor the HVAC system to ensure proper operation and optimal performanceCoordinate and oversee fire detection and emergency response procedures to ensure the safety of all occupantsCollaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance and repairsImplement and enforce OHSA guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employeesWHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE Relevant Bachelor's degree or Diploma in the Engineering or Built Environment Field (NQF Level 6) with appropriate experience or Artisan with minimum NTC3 (NQF Level 4/3)A successful completion of an appropriate apprenticeship and recognised industry trade testCertificate of training on the OSH Act.Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or related fieldStrong knowledge of building management systems and HVAC systemsAbility to lead, manage a team and ensure work is delivered within the agreed timeframes and to the agreed standardsExperience with fire detection systems and emergency response proceduresKnowledge of OHSA regulations and guidelinesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamReliable transportRequired to work weekend and afterhoursThis is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to play a key role in optimizing the functionality and safety of our workplace.
