Responsibilities: Drive, resource and support the academic strategy and outcomes in the planning and direction of the JBS teaching and learning strategy, develop and manage the future relevant programme qualification mix; inclusive of all short learning and executive programs.Assume leadership of the team of academic faculty members and in conjunction with the Dean of School, provide each member of faculty with a professional development plan.Ensure compliance with all teaching and learning policies, procedures and frameworks, including the Higher Degrees policies and programme standing orders.Represent JBS on appropriate University committees and chair JBS Teaching and Learning Committee.In collaboration with the programme managers, agree on timetables and scheduling according to the JBS workload model.Support the Dean of JBS to ensure that academic programme management and delivery aligns with approved JBS performance management strategic objectives.In collaboration with the Marketing Department, develop a marketing plan to attract new students in terms of the desired student profile.In collaboration with the programme managers, monitor the deliverables from lecturers for students and ensure a high level of student satisfaction.Build relationships with international business schools to provide JBS students with access to international networks.Arrange for extra curricula activities such as webinars and guest lecturers to enrich the student experience.Ensure that JBS quality assurance from an academic design and development perspective are adhered to.In collaboration with the Dean and Financial Business Partner, compile the annual budget for the contact and online academic programmes and ensure that budgets are appropriately applied.Oversee the team report designated with the direction and implementation of all emerging technologies (including instructional design) relating to the online/distance/blended learning environment.Scrutinise quarterly reports from the Financial Business Partner to inform strategic programme decisions, where applicable, and budget and strategy of subsequent year and approve purchasing transactions.Review and approve contracts for, inter alia, academic support staff, part-time lecturers, and any other contractors required for successful delivery of academic programmes – in conjunction with the Financial Business Partner, and in terms of JBS and UJ delegation of authority frameworks.Minimum Requirements: A recognised Master's degree.At least five (5) years of management experience in a director level position required, ideally within a higher education institution, preferably a business school.Knowledge and experience in working on business school programs.Academic thought leadership.Demonstrate ability to build relationships and think critically.
