Customs Entry Clerk

Job Description: Ensure that RCG submissions to Customs are meticulously prepared. Thoroughly review incoming shipping documents. Scrutinize details such as weights, number of pieces, sales terms, and ensure accurate values and invoice numbers. Verify that the packing list, invoice, and bill of lading correspond correctly. Examine forwarding files and registration files for accuracy. Prior to sending documents to the Customs entry department, ensure that all documents are in perfect order, requiring no further corrections. Be prepared to assist with entry submissions and file registrations when necessary Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks Ability to work independently and with a team Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements: Must have Grade 12, Matric or NQF4 equivalent qualification. Freight qualification is advantageous Must have clear criminal record. Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word Minimum 5 years experience in similar role Customs knowledge Tariffing knowledge Knowledge of ACS Customs System or other Customs Systems Knowledge of Customs Entry Processes Framing Entries Knowledge of Capturing and Framing Export and Import FCLs and LCLs Knowledge of Shipping Agency Processes Knowledge of SARS Customs Regulations in respect to Exports and Imports Ability to respond to SARS Customs queries Knowledge of VOCs and Tariff Codes
