We have an amazing opportunity for a Copywriting Team Leader to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. Do you think you have what it takes to be our newest Purple Star?
The successful candidate will assist the Creative Head: Copy in managing the Copywriting team in terms of team members meeting daily requirements and staying on top of their workloads, deadlines and deliverables. The successful candidate will handle all copy requirements from conception through to delivery by allocating workflow based on skill-set, deadlines and priority amongst the copy team. The Team Leader will be tasked with the responsibility of overseeing initial drafts produced by the Copywriting department; providing writers with requisite feedback and approving work before sanctioning it for dispatching to the requestor. This includes mentoring of writers and working closely with the Head of Creative: Copy, and the Copy Traffic Coordinator. The Team Leader will also be responsible for representing the Copywriting team at meetings with clients and feeding back to the rest of the Copywriting team. Furthermore, the Team Leader will act as the HOD's second-in-command when he is on leave or undergoing training.

You Bring: 3 or more years' experience in a copywriting role A bonus to have: Relevant Diploma/ DegreeWhat You'll Do For The Brand: Oversee the copy team.Develop compelling copy across multiple platforms including but not limited to Print, Outdoor, In-Store Activations, In-store, Social Media, Brand/Publications, Scriptwriting: Digital, Radio, TV and Podcasts.Ensure all work meets briefs; is of the highest standard and is delivered according to deadline.Liaise between writers and other departments for all copy job requests to ensure the brief is adequate to start the job with all the relevant information regarding deliverables and deadlines is included.Coordinate copy work coming in with a job ticket system and allocate jobs according to the relative workloads of the team.Identify skills gaps and suggest learning and development training in the areas that require attentionWork pro-actively on top-line projects and campaigns alongside day-to-day briefs.Oversee copy progress against schedule, priority, brief and deadlines. Provide feedback and seek any missing information from job requestor in order to complete the job.Attend and participate in campaign meetings to understand the requirements of the copy team and to allocate the brief accordingly.Have control measures in place to ensure that copy requests are reasonable.Review draft copy against briefs to ensure that any and all errors are corrected before sending to requestor and receiving feedback.Coordinate and control copy submissions for requestors' review and approval.Ensure that the brand guide and brand standards as well as legal requirements are adhered to at all times.Implement corrective measures for identified distractions or issues causing delays.Oversee and maintain order of standard processes and continue to build the knowledge management system.Manage the job ticket list, providing reports on the amount of jobs processed and information on time frames to complete the various jobs.Assist writers on special research and technical projects.
