Job Description Our client is looking for a highly experienced and qualified Health and Safety Agent in Somerset West, Western Cape to manage and oversee health and safety compliance for their construction project.
The Health and Safety Agent will play a critical role in ensuring that all contracts related to the project meet health, safety, and statutory requirements, and that health and safety standards are effectively implemented and adhered to throughout the project's lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities: 1.
Health and Safety Management: Align with contractors to ensure compliance with the Client's health and safety requirements and documentation during the project execution phase. Review and approve contractor health and safety documentation before work commences.
Ensure submission of required health and safety documentation to relevant authorities.
Attend contractor site handover meetings, site meetings, progress meetings, risk workshops, and technical meetings.
Facilitate regular site health and safety meetings to ensure ongoing compliance and engagement.
Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments through frequent site inspections.
Establish and maintain communication structures and systems for health and safety on site.
Conduct health and safety inductions for site personnel.

Compliance Monitoring: Evaluate subcontractor compliance with the project-specific health and safety plan and client specifications through inspections and audits.
Oversee the reporting, investigation, and resolution of project-related incidents.
Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents, and audits.
Provide trend analysis to identify system deficiencies, incident patterns, and areas for improvement.

Health and Safety Reporting: Provide regular reports on contract health and safety matters, including but not limited to statistical data (e.g., health and safety reporting, B-BBEE spend).
Ensure proactive decision-making by the Employer through timely and comprehensive reporting.
Participate in management reviews of the health and safety systems and propose relevant improvements.
Manage the health and safety aspects during the defect liability period, including audits and risk communication.
Prepare and submit the consolidated construction project health and safety close-out report upon project completion Requirements A Diploma in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or an equivalent qualification is required.
Proof of registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) as a Pr.
CHSA (Professional Construction Health and Safety Agent) is required.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in construction health and safety management, with a proven track record in similar projects.
Experience in managing health and safety across multiple contracts within the construction industry is essential.
