The city's multicultural networks and international connections make the Daniels Faculty a powerful place to start a career.Your opportunity:The Business Services Office is a dynamic team responsible for the Daniels Faculty's financial administration, payroll administration, academic and general human resources, and procurement.The incumbent joins a high-performance team of professionals that share a strong culture of collaboration, respect, and customer service. As part of the team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks in financial and payroll administration. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing reimbursements, generating financial reports, processing payroll, and maintaining HR records. The incumbent will also act as the first point of contact for the faculty's work study program.Forecasting, planning, and monitoring multiple complex budgetsAnalyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision makingEntering salary and/or personnel information in HRISProducing complex statistical and/or financial reportsProcessing and reconciling payroll distributionLiaising with internal contacts to resolve accounting, payroll and/or HRIS processing issuesApplying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirementsEssential Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in finance/accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experienceMinimum four years of recent and related payroll management experience in preparing, processing and reconciling payroll.Demonstrated experience in financial management, including forecasting, planning, developing and monitoring complex budgets.Experience in financial transactions such as journal entries, expense reimbursements, purchase requisitions, accounts payable and receivable.Demonstrated experience processing payroll transactions including maintaining salary and/or personnel information in HRIS.Experience preparing or processing casual contracts, sessional lecturer and/or course instructor contracts, and appointed contracts.Experience troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies.Keeping well-informed on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements.Experience producing and analyzing complex statistical and/or financial reportsKnowledge and experience with University of Toronto's Administrative Management System (AMS), including the Financial Information System (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Research Information System (RIS), Kronos or similar systems.High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite with emphasis on Excel.Demonstrated understanding of financial management procedures, accounting principles and procedures, and an ability to accurately interpret and apply guidelines, procedures and regulations in a variety of situations.Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to professionally communicate complex financial and payroll procedures to administrative staff.Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and time management skills.Solid planning, accounting, financial and analytical skills.Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with all levels of faculty, staff, students, senior administration and external constituentsAbility to work independently as well as a collaborative team member in a multi-stakeholder environment.Professional demeanor with a strong client service orientation.Ability to work in a high volume environment that requires multi-tasking on varied duties and an ability to prioritize effectively and work under pressure.Assets (Nonessential):Completion of a recognized accounting program (CPA)To be successful in this role you will be:DecisiveMeticulousOrganizedProactiveSelf-directedTeam playerClosing Date: 09/18/2024, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type: Budget - TermSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band 13 -- $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463.
