Job DescriptionThis event company is currently recruiting an Accounting Assistant / Bookkeeper to join their team. This is an in-office permanent position.ResponsibilitiesFull accounting function ability to take over/assist where necessary - not limited to: Suppliers, customers, banking (cheque, credit cards, petty cash), fixed asset register, insurance, payrollSetting up, improving, maintaining effective financial controls and statutory complianceSet up and preparation of monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accountsAssist with statutory submissions e.g., DOL, CIPC, SARSContribution to the daily functioning of the finance team and its performanceAssisting the Financial Executive with ad-hoc assignmentsIdentify areas to streamline current processes to improve efficiency & implementation thereofRequirementsAccounting degree or equivalent with minimum 5 years' relevant experienceConfident and independent individual who is a fast learnerTeam playerAbility to use own initiative and work with minimum supervisionAble to work flexible working hours (overtime when/if needed)Able to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlinesA strong entrepreneurial abilityAn ability to think logicallyBe accurate in execution of dutiesBe highly computer literate - Accounting packages, Microsoft Office SuiteStrong attention to detail and organisational skillsBe committed to continuous learning and staying updated (e.g. industry, statutory requirements)
