Simonsig Wines seeks to employ a Workshop Manager to join their dynamic team. About the Position: This position will report to the Farm Manager and is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the winery's workshop facilities. This includes managing equipment maintenance, repairs, and installations, as well as supervising workshop staff.
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities: Implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all workshop equipment (service schedule). Maintenance of all farm implements, spray pumps, tractors, and other vehicles. Coordinate the repairs of implements, tractors, and other vehicles (self, suppliers, or contractors). Fault diagnoses of electrical equipment and in-house repairs. Coordinate repairs and maintenance of irrigation pumps, borehole pumps, sprinkler irrigation, and filter installations. Inventory Management of workshop tools. Ensure that the workshop complies with all health and safety regulations and standards. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity. Staff Management. Manage the workshop's budget, ensuring that costs are controlled and resources are utilized efficiently. Keep accurate records of vehicles' fuel and oil and order new stock when required on Africlock system. Requirements: Technical diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field. Trade-tested Diesel Mechanic or Red Seal qualification advantageous. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a workshop management role, preferably in the wine/agriculture industry. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Proficiency in using workshop equipment and tools.
