Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Logistics Specialist to join our Infrastructure Operations team as part of our Work Based Learning Program (WBLP). This is an entry-level 12-month work and training program. This role requires travel to sites within the Cape Town area.

The Logistics Specialist reviews data center inventory, in-bound shipments, and ongoing demand to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained in all locations to support build and repair activities. Working with the Logistics Manager, they create plans to optimize the flow of parts through their lifecycle; tracking inventory location, movement, age, and turns. They work closely with Data Center Operations Technicians and Data Center Engineers to fulfill parts quickly and accurately.
Responsibilities include manual tasks, such as assembling, addressing, and arranging for the shipment of merchandise and materials. They may also assist in daily scheduling of deliveries and pick-ups to locations. In handling incoming shipments, they have to unpack boxes and verify contents. The Logistics Specialist will be required to keep precise records of all commodities going in and out of the company.
Logistics Specialists are expected to understand all aspects of production, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality, and be willing and able to work on moving equipment (i.e., pallet jack or trolleys).

A day in the life
Your day will be spent carrying out logistical support functions for our Data Centers. This will involve physical control and processing of spare parts transactions, consumables stock replenishment, and cycle counting of stock. The role will require some travel between sites to successfully complete tasks.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS High school or equivalent diploma.Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems.Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
