The WIC Pharmacist exists in Medipost Pharmacy at Gezina reporting to the Pharmacy Manager.
Work OutputEvaluation of patients' medicine-related needs determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of the therapy.Prepares medication by reviewing and interpreting Rx, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities (when applicable).Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals or the supervision thereof.Accurately interpret Rx and act in a professional and responsible manner, within legal requirements in accordance with GPP and SAPC.Correct errors on Rx rejected by medical aid as per SOPs.Accurately capture and dispense medicine as prescribed on a valid Rx as per SOPs.Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy when required.Explain all medical costs to patients as per SOPs.Replenish shelves, process inventory, and sell products to customers.Ensure stock is checked for damages and expiry dates.Ensure any stock discrepancies are recorded on the documents provided as per SOPs.Participate in regular cycle counts and annual/bi-annual stock take.Process all paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids as per SOPs.Ensure accurate and timely authorization of patient medicine at medical aid as per SOPs.Maintain patient profiles on the system (also includes merging) as per SOPs.Take note of any messages on the patient profile and take suitable action (if required). Create accurate and relevant action diaries on the MedipostApp system as per SOPs.CustomerFurnishing of information and advice to patients regarding medicine usage.Determine patient compliance to the therapy, and follow-up to ensure the patients' medicine-related needs are met as per SOPs.Professionally interact with patients and health care professionals.Execute customer service initiatives in the dispensary to ensure great customer experience, driving customer loyalty.Meet and exceed customer expectations.OperationsEfficiently execute all operational activities of the dispensary, including safe and responsible stock management, shrinkage, general housekeeping, and administration in line with GPP and SAPC Regulations and company standards.Constant communication with colleagues and management to address expectations, requirements, and compliance.Ensure integration and partnership with the clinic, over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare aisle resulting in a full offering to patients regarding their healthcare needs.Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing.Ensure operational viability of the dispensary through focusing on the core dispensary targets.Ensure competent and motivated employees by overseeing training and development as a Tutor of PA and Pharmacist Interns in line with SAPC and company requirements.Assist management to identify/eliminate security risks.Ability to prioritize work to achieve the required daily outcome.Problems are identified and escalated through relevant channels.Maintenance & adherence to good housekeeping practices.Ensure stock and shelves are clean and tidy.Manage own time & attendance according to company policies.Adherence to company policies and SOPs.Self-initiative and willingness to constantly exceed expectations.Self-motivated.Maintain good relationships towards departments and the Group at large.Willingness to work overtime.QualificationsBachelor of Pharmacy.SAPC Registration.Min 2 years' post Community Services experience as a Pharmacist in the Retail Sector.SkillsCustomer service oriented.Good interpersonal skills.Good listening and communication skills (verbal and written).Problem-solving skills.Organised and tidy.Data Capturing Skills.Detail Oriented.Ability to train others."Medipost Holdings is committed to the promotion of employment equity within the workplace which is a driving factor in all recruitment decisions.
