Viticulturist

The successful candidate will report to the Cellar Master and be responsible for (but not limited to):
*all aspects of quality wine grape growing
*soil management, pruning, establishment of new vineyards, pest and weed control, canopy management, irrigation, harvesting *management and development of personnel to improve productivity
*record keeping and production reports
*quality management i.e. compliance with IPW, WIETA and Fairtrade accreditations
*management of grape production budget and operating costs in collaboration with management
*management of off site vineyards under contract and communication with growers, to optimize quality
*all other functions and duties related to the position.

Essential minimum qualifications, skills and experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification;
• Approximately 3-5 years' experience in a similar management position;
• Good knowledge of farm equipment and mechanical skills;
• Knowledge of relevant quality control systems;
• Excellent communication skills (Afrikaans & English);
• Strong computer proficiency (MS Office, EzyWine).
