Spatial Analyst (Professional Officer) Urban Planning And Design

Requirements: Must have a Bachelors or post graduate degree in Urban Planning, Geoinformatics, or a related discipline in the Built Environment;A minimum of 2 years relevant experience;Must be competent in spatial planning: policy, research, data analysis and application;Must have an intermediate level of skill in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and have some scripting or coding skills;Must have a basic understanding of the professional roles of other built environment professionals;Must be or eligible to be registered as a Professional Planner with SACPLAN (South African Council for Planners) or as a Geographical Information Science Technologist/Professional with SAGC (South Africa Geomatics Council); andA valid Code EB drivers license. Key Performance Areas: Undertake spatial and statistical analysis (extract trends, patterns and spatial implications) to inform spatial development frameworks and policy interventions;Manage (store, secure or disseminate) and integrate various data types;Identify internal and external data sources and leverage new data collection and generation processes;Apply analytics to extract useful information from structured and unstructured data;Design and develop tools and processes to support the implementation of spatial planning policy; including spatial targeting tools to guide investment, planning interventions and/or mechanisms to ensure alignment of public and private sector investment;Design and develop monitoring mechanisms to monitor the implementation of spatial policy;Undertake research to enhance and improve the development of innovative and empirically-based spatial planning intervention and mechanisms to support the implementation of spatial development plans;Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders;Support senior staff manage functional administrative arrangements, in order to support effective project management and monitoring and evaluation of tasks relevant to the Spatial Targeting and Mechanisms unit.
