Unit Manager - Psychiatry

Job Summary: To plan, monitor, coordinate and oversee the Unit's operations and processes to ensure quality patient care and the overall running of the unit including but not limited to managing the ward clerks, RN, EN and ENA's roles and responsibilities. Take responsibility for the mentoring, coaching, training and development of nursing staff and managing the Unit budget and ensuring cost saving and stakeholder engagement. Minimum Qualifications and Experience:Cur Degree /Diploma in General NursingDiploma in Psychiatric NursingNursing AdministrationBLS qualification.Current registration with South African Nursing Council.3+ years' experience at a managerial/supervisory level.Experienced in psychiatric NursingExperience within a private hospital environment advantageousMinimum Job Requirements:Lead the implementation of the nursing care plan and co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of the correct treatment plan within the correct MDT program to achieve clinical outcomes.Function as clinical expert in achieving patient outcomes.Oversee the Psychiatry ward staff availability and ensure adequate patient care in line with individual needs.Champion mental health awareness for both staff and patient.Ensure competence of staff, determine and drive criteria for effective professional socialization, create an environment conducive to learning and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.Promote customer satisfaction within unit, address customer complaints, conduct quality care rounds and clinical practice audits to monitor care levels and report accordingly.Implement national quality initiatives within unit with the focus on improved clinical outcomes and report accordingly.Identify clinical and safety risks and trends in all the above mentioned, implement corrective action where necessary and monitor on an ongoing basis.Initiate and drive unit specific best operating practice, communicate these for wider implementation and participate in hospital specific marketing initiatives.Participate in business planning and budgeting processes and manage nursing costs according to budget.Manage stock utilization and drive product management processes within unit together with relevant stakeholders#J-18808-Ljbffr
