Job Description: Our client is a leading multinational mining company who are seeking a Unit Manager Commodity on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities: Commodity Management: Responsible for the commodity's entire commercial process to ensure good governance processes are followed; Developing and implementing a Commodity Management strategy and manage the commodity commercial processes in line with company commercial policies, procedures and business requirements; Participate in the enterprise and supplier development strategic imperatives by influencing the commercial strategic model. Working with internal customers to ensure that clear technical, quality, safety and timing requirements are identified and agreed. Contract management by utilising different cost methodologies, business commercial models and optimisation practices in line with strategic objectives; Liaise closely with legal entities in processes such as agreements, penalty clauses and overall contract management; Design and implement total cost of ownership models in the execution and implementation of commercial processes. Resolve any strategic commodity concerns from internal and external stakeholders, in line with approved delegation framework and service level agreements; Investigate and recommend new and/or alternative sources of supply as necessary to support cost reduction requirements, and/or supplier performance issues; Successfully resolve any internal and external audit requirements pro-actively to avoid negative impact to the business; Maintain a risk register for the commodity in line with risk identification, prioritisation and mitigation. Prepare any required reports relating to regulatory and legislative commercial processes and entities; Participate in the commercial process with respect to any merger, acquisition and/or joint ventures; Perform special projects as required in support of Supply Chain objectives; Identify Innovation & Business Improvement opportunities. Stakeholder Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally; Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Sourcing, contracting, and negotiating with service providers: Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable; Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes. Requirements: Qualification and Skill: NQF 7 (Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma) – non negotiable; Engineering degree and/or Engineering expertise will be advantageous. At least 5 – 10 years' experience in a related role, of which 2-5 years should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area. Knowledge of legislation - BBBEE, Mining Charter and other applicable legislation will be advantageous. At least 2 years' experience in Contract Management or Procurement or Capital or Mining or Engineering or Services or Quantity Surveying or SLP (Social Labour Plan) where applicable will be advantageous.
