Qualifications To act as a technical leader in the Dams and Hydropower Sector in delivering engineering projects and to support sustainable business growth. Provides strong technical leadership and is considered to be a competent professional in their field. Act as a Design Leader on medium to large-sized projects. Support the designated responsible person in the financial management of projects in the sector. Work collaboratively at both an internal and external, client-facing level from a technical perspective, supporting in the development of new client relationships through strong technical delivery and maintaining existing networks within the business through technical delivery. Ensure all quality assurance processes are followed, delivering on time and within budget for design projects. Support the business development and selling initiatives through relevant technical and commercial inputs to expand work assignments, including managing client relationships and expectations. Support in the preparation of proposals and participate in the development of bids and technical write-ups for proposals. Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers, contributing to the growth of our talent pipeline. Main duties Support the business lead with relevant business management metrics inputs as required. Support in the management of project invoicing and accounts receivable as required. Support the business leadership team with strategic planning. Technical leadership and delivery on projects. Team Management: Responsible to support the dams and hydropower lead to manage and provide leadership to the Dams and Hydropower team. Personnel performance management for staff assigned to you. Support in the development and ensuring of good team morale and spirit. Support with utilization forecasting and team management. Personnel skill assessment and development. Design Management: Successful technical completion of projects. Quality management according to the company procedures. Mentoring and guidance of team members in a design management role. Approval and sign-off of design. Review of design/study reports. Business development: Support in engagement of potential and existing clients on future projects both locally in the African market and supporting our Global business with pursuits from a technical perspective. Support in the development of proposals. Support with the sourcing of partners for opportunities. Minimum Requirements: At least 15 years' experience in dams/hydropower and general water engineering. Fluent in English (ability to speak/write French will be an added benefit). Demonstrated experience in design management of complex projects and meeting delivery requirements. Ability to and interest in guiding and mentoring junior engineers and designers, contributing to the growth of our talent pipeline. Additional Information Bachelor's in civil/mechanical engineering (Master's degree will be preferred). Professionally Registered with ECSA or relevant professional body. Registration as an Approved Professional Person (South Africa) or equivalent.
