Duties & Responsibilities:To demonstrate high clinical expertise in patient care and ensure a safe environment is established for optimal patient well-being.To perform ultrasound examinations and operate imaging equipment in demanding environments.Understand normal anatomy with the ability to recognize abnormalities and irregularities and indicate these to the radiologist.Constantly keep up to date with new procedures and maintain a high degree of accuracy for best image quality and patient care.Read and understand the request form to determine appropriate positioning and imaging technique.Accurately select appropriate ICD10/ authorisation coding and fee lines.Be able to troubleshoot, understand and recognize malfunctions and causes of poor-quality imaging.Routinely perform QA tests and maintain quality control.Understand the transfer process through PACS and RIS to ensure a smooth workflow.Follow all safety procedures and optimise imaging techniques.Adherence to policies, protocols, processes, and procedures of the Practice, to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and work in partnership with other team members.Develop rapport and build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Training and mentoring of colleagues and students.Participate in mandatory training and maintain CPD compliance.Empower the Sonography Assistant to fulfill his/her required responsibilities eg. Ensure ultrasound rooms and surrounds are kept neat and clean, change patients, prepare and set sterile trolleys, assist with procedures, etcReport any unsafe working conditions in line with Health and Safety protocols to the Practice Manager or Operations Team Leader.Experience and Qualifications:Minimum 2 years as a qualified sonographerNational Dip/BTech/BHScRegistered with HPCSA as independent practitioner.CPD compliant
