We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Trademark Attorney to join our team in Johannesburg at partnership level.
Reporting to the managing partner of the firm, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the trademark department of the business.
Not only does this role present an exciting opportunity to join a global legal team but also continue to grow a local and regional practice in the trademarks and related IP space.
Your Responsibilities Manage all aspects of trademark renewals, filings and prosecution practice in South Africa.
Attend to trademark litigation matters.
Attend to commercial trademark matters.
Manage trademark renewals practice in OAPI and ARIPO.
Attend to related IP matters such as unlawful competition, copyright and the like.
Manage a paralegal team attending to the paralegal aspects of the practice.
Be fully involved in the management of the firm.
Actively involved in business development activities and in the growing of the practice in South Africa, into Africa broadly and into MENA.
Being an active participant in all Dennemeyer group activities when called upon to do so, which may include the attendance of local and/or international conferences.
Your Profile LLB or BProc and admitted to practice in South Africa; additional degrees are an advantage.
Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience (law firm experience and/or in-house legal advisory).
Preferred (not essential): Qualified as a trademark practitioner before the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law.
An ability to manage a team of paralegals.
Fluent command of English.
