NOV Africa is seeking a temporary General Ledger Accountant to support our accounting team based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing accounting activities, document collection, and financial reporting. We welcome applications from newly graduated candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting and Statutory:
Assist with organizing and preparation and filing of information as required for statutory and tax audits in respective countries.
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls (SOX).
Supporting the preparation and execution of the IFRS statutory audit.
Activities below can be performed on a "as needed" basis:
Accounts Receivable and Payable:
Perform monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledger accounts.
Align General Ledger with AR and AP sub-system balances.
Process payments through the ERP system and reconcile financial statements.
Inter-company Accounting:
Collect inter-company (IC) invoices and supporting documentation from partners.
Accrue unprocessed IC invoices.
Reconcile inter-company balances with partner entities.
Forward unprocessed invoices to the accounts payable team.
Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting:
Ensure alignment between General Ledger and Fixed Asset/Lease sub-systems.
General Ledger and Month-End Reporting:
Prepare and process journal entries with comprehensive supporting documentation.
Maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliations in compliance with corporate standards.
Follow up on and resolve balance sheet reconciliation items within specified timelines.
Execute monthly closing procedures.
Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules according to the monthly close schedule.
Provide support for ad-hoc requests and cost analysis.
Contribute to specific functional projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (minimum third year) in Accounting or Finance.
Honours degree in Accounting or Finance (advantageous, but not essential).
Experience:
General administration, analyst, and accounting experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of accounting theory.
Proficiency with ERP systems.
Proficient in Microsoft applications and email.
Fluent in English (French language skills advantageous).
