Our 97,000 employees operate a network of 2,600 offices and laboratories, working together to enable a better, safer and more interconnected world.Job DescriptionLog received samples into the SLIMS using work orders from the client.Print sample labels.Ensure samples are sorted correctly before labeling and boxing.Follow all quality directives of this Department.Weigh prills using a micro-balance and record the weights in the SLIMS.Lock the prills away in the safe at the end of the shift.Perform nickel sulphide leaches and/or other similar Wet Chemical techniques by accurately following written procedures.Operate laboratory instrumentation such as LECO analysers.Bring all problems (technical and managerial) to the attention of the Chemist.Adhere to all quality, health and safety rules and regulations.Ensure that the housekeeping in the receiving area as well as the micro-balance room is in order.Comply and conform to Laboratory Quality Management System (ISO17025).Record any day-to-day repairs, maintenance, calibration and verification of instruments.Work in other areas and/or Divisions if asked to do so.Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.QualificationsEducation:National Diploma in Analytical ChemistryGrade 12, with Mathematics and ScienceExperience:3 years laboratory experienceCompetent in logging of samples and working with CClasResponsible person to work with prillsAble to perform various wet chemical techniquesLIMS administration and operationExperience in instrumentation, data collection and reportingCompetencies:Full understanding of the LIMS systemComputer Literate (Microsoft Office)Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management SystemGood communication and interpersonal skillsWorks well under pressureExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
