This is achieved through a series of technical functions such as planning the depletion of the ore body and reconciling it to the initial estimations made during the various feasibility studies. The function also provides assurance in measuring the activities conducted by the mining operations and relates them to the feed presented to the processing business unit. All these activities are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, as well as any legislative frameworks that guide the Technical Services function.Tasks and Responsibilities:The incumbent who will assume the role of the Technical Services Manager is expected to grow the mineral resource and mineral reserve base by:Managing the daily operations relating to the geology of the Umtu Mine deposit.Managing the surveying, sampling, and planning of the mining activities.Providing a quality service to the mining, engineering, and metallurgical divisions.Compiling a monthly, annual, and life of mine (LOM) plan as required by the operation.Ensuring that the production areas (as scheduled in planning) are delivered according to the plan and the overall production plan is met in terms of tons and grade.Budget controls.Ensuring safety, health, legal, and regulatory compliance within the Technical Services discipline.Education:Grade 12.Degree: Bachelor of Science Honours Geology.SACNASP Registered.Management Development Program (Advantageous).Experience:Minimum 10 years' experience in the technical services section in the mining industry.5 years management experience in the mining industry.Experience and knowledge with mine geology, survey, draughting, rock engineering, mine planning, and mine scheduling.Experience as a competent person signing off R&R statements or similar reports.Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:Senior management and leadership training/qualification.Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.Excellent organization skills and written communication skills.Strong leadership and management ability.Ability to work in a multinational/multicultural environment.Computer literacy: sound computer literacy and knowledge of information systems, including networks and servers; intimate knowledge of GMSI MRM and CADSMINE; DATAMINE interface would be an advantage.Proven expertise in Technical Services and related systems.Team leadership and management experience, with the ability to deliver through people.Experience in Ore Reserve Management Systems and well experienced in Survey and Evaluation Systems.SHE: Working knowledge and skills of SHE policies, practices, and procedures; integrated risk management and assessment; maintain a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices.Comply with SHE and technical requirements, in line with Plant/Mine availability targets; implement SHE programs and ensure adherence to all relevant mine surveying and statutory mine plans regarding (MH and SA, MPRDA, MTRA, and Water Act), SAMREC code.Policies and procedures: Working knowledge of all related company policies including IR, HC, and labour agreements.
