Tasks and Duties:
Develop processes according to global engineering codes and standards.
Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
Define customer needs and requirements.
Ensure that installations and applications are in line with customer needs and safety standards.
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
Write reports and compile data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
Prepare specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
Supervise or train project team members.
Estimate material, labour, or construction costs for budget preparation.
Guide on electrical equipment maintenance requirements.
Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
Monitor maintenance and inspection plans.
Direct supervision of Utility Billing and Meter Reading employees, including assignment of duties, and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
Responsible for technical resolution with customers concerning Utility Billing Policy, errors in billing to resolve their questions or issues.
Responsible for the preparation of the Departments annual budget and monitoring for compliance throughout the year.
Analyse systems and procedures accurately and logically.
Analyse the need for modifications to or implementation of new business process flows.
Grasp new technical and business concepts quickly; explain technical data processing problems in non-technical terms both verbally and in writing.
Logically analyse and synthesize complex systems to develop satisfactory solutions.
Act as a liaison with the Department of Innovation and Technology.
Compile reports from a variety of sources.
Keep the meter reading system up to date.
Establish meter reading routes in accordance with changing conditions to distribute reading workload.
Perform/supervise reading, repair, testing, and inspection of meters for new installs and existing meter assemblies.
Provide oversight and management of meter reading hardware and software.
Keep updated records of meter maintenance.
Seek effective ways and technologies to reduce read times and increase use of CIS, meter system analytics, and other internal software programs.
Continuously improve and refine program by utilizing new technologies and applying new strategies.
Review consumption reports monthly for zero reads, high consumption.
Coordinate with Meter Services Coordinator on scheduling appointments and other activities based on customer needs.
Assist with utility billing and respond to on-call duties and support Field Operations Department with after hour emergencies.
Stay up to date on safety training, certification, holding staff accountable for use of all safety equipment and procedures, and use of PPE.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Licensed as a professional engineer.
Experience:
Significant experience in utility regulatory topics and complex technical analysis.
3-7 years of increasingly responsible experience in utility billing and customer service, which included three to five years of supervisory experience.
