Technical Manager: Coatings
The IMCD Group is a global leader in sales, marketing and distribution of specialty chemicals and ingredients, with specific emphasis on providing customer solutions and technical support. IMCD South Africa is looking for a dependable, talented person driving the formulation of customer solutions in our Coatings laboratory. This position reports into the Business Unit Manager: Coatings and Construction.

Qualification and Skills:
Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Between 3-5 years of working experience in the development of Industrial Coatings or Paints
Confident in leading technical discussions and be problem-solvers
Strong communication skills, presentation skills, interpersonal and networking skills
Motivated and energetic personality

The position is responsible for:
Steering and operating the local IMCD Coatings Laboratory
Ensure safety rules are in place, following group SOP
Planning, prioritization and selection of all (customers, suppliers and internal) lab projects
Action customer-, supplier- & internal lab projects
Conduct coatings specific lab studies according to approved standards and regulations
Elaborate and roll out technical solution and improved formulation proposals for customers
Assessment and documentation of tests results in an Electronic Lab Notebook
Support technical cooperation between the Coatings & Construction Labs worldwide
Technical contact for established and new suppliers as well as customers
Support of local Coatings & Construction Sales Managers with customer visits, and also during exhibitions and conferences
Support Global Technical Managers during planning, operating and executing of the IMCD Coatings & Construction Academy training for Coatings & Construction Sales & Product Managers (& for customers) as well as during planning and conception of new training modules
Technical Marketing
Technical support of PM's when interacting with important regional suppliers and principals
Preparation and Maintenance of technical Marketing- and Sales-Tools: Product-Portfolio-Presentations, IMCD-Product Brochures, Flyers, Folders and One-Pagers, Guide Formulations
Preparation of Quarterly Technical Reports, Technical Newsletters and further internal reports and publications
Support BU in planning and executing customer seminars and exhibitions
Business Development
Support of local Business Development Management activities during identification, selection, discussion and implementation of new suppliers
Expected Qualification/Education:
Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Work Experience:
Between 3-5 years of working experience in the development of Industrial Coatings or Paints
Primary Job Location:
Johannesburg: 275 Oak Avenue, Ferndale, Randburg.
Travel:
Travel as required to support the sales team.
